Remember… an enormous shadow passing over the Na’vi at the Tree of Souls as Toruk descends from the sky? Hometree has been destroyed. The survivors are grieving. To Neytiri, Jake is still the outsider who earned their trust while concealing his mission. Now he rides Pandora’s most feared aerial predator. The crowd parts as he dismounts. A name passes among them: Toruk Makto—the rider of the Last Shadow. Neytiri had told him what that meant. Her ancestor once rode Toruk and united the clans during a time of great sorrow. Jake takes that extraordinary risk to earn a chance to return. But the title alone cannot repair everything. He approaches Tsu’tey and asks permission to fight beside him, acknowledging his leadership. Uniting the Na’vi requires the support of their own leader. Then they call the clans. Riders carry the message across Pandora, gathering people for a shared stand. Jake’s return does not erase his betrayal. It makes his choice visible: he now risks his life alongside the people he was originally sent to undermine. Riding Toruk gives them a reason to believe they can still fight together, even after losing their home.
