Berserk - Griffith

Remember… Griffith surrounded by his companions during the Eclipse, choosing a future that will destroy them? A year of torture has ruined his body. He can no longer wield a sword or command his soldiers. The people he once led to victory now risk their lives to rescue him. At his lowest point, the Crimson Beherit awakens. The world changes. The Band of the Hawk finds itself in an alien landscape, surrounded by apostles. The God Hand shows Griffith a path toward his dream—a road built upon those who have already died for it. They frame surrender as making those deaths meaningless. Continuing requires another sacrifice: the companions who followed him here. Griffith looks at Guts, the man who once made him forget his dream. Then he chooses: “I sacrifice.” Brands appear on his comrades. Their loyalty has brought them into a slaughter they never agreed to enter. Griffith begins his transformation and emerges as Femto. What makes the choice horrifying is that the sacrifice requires people precious to him. Their bond gives the offering its value. He reclaims his dream by destroying the relationships that still connect him to humanity.
