Berserk - Guts 3D panel

Remember… when Guts stands alone against a hundred armed men in the forest, buying Casca time to escape? He is already wounded. His body needs rest, but enemies gather between the trees. Swords and spears surround him. Guts grips his enormous blade with both hands and meets the first attack. Steel rings through the darkness. Every swing demands his whole body. One opponent replaces another; whenever he slows, they close in. He shifts his footing, blocks, and strikes again. Blood and fallen weapons cover the ground. At first, the soldiers trust their numbers. Then hesitation spreads. The man who should have fallen keeps standing. His wounds deepen and his breathing grows heavier, but his grip holds. The night passes in combat. For Guts, everything narrows to the next opponent. Lift the sword. Survive the blow. Stay upright. Behind him lies Casca’s escape route, and he keeps the enemy from following. Eventually, the attacks stop. Guts alone survives the battle. Dawn reveals his exhausted face and battered body. He sits against a tree, his great sword nearby. This time, nobody else is coming.
