Berserk - Guts and Casca 3D panel

Remember… Guts and Casca sharing their first kiss beside the waterfall, after a conversation that nearly became a fight? Guts has returned to the Band of the Hawk after a year away. Griffith is imprisoned, and the survivors are fugitives. Casca has struggled to hold them together. Now her pain erupts. She attacks Guts with her sword, blaming his departure for everything. He defends himself without fully fighting back. At one point, he grips her blade bare-handed, blood spilling between his fingers. Her anger gives way to despair. She admits how desperately she wanted to be indispensable to Griffith, and how she lost her place beside him. Exhausted, she lets herself fall backward over the cliff. Guts catches her hand and pulls her to safety. Casca breaks down. Seeing him bleeding for her again, she presses her face against his chest. He holds her, kisses her head, and sinks to his knees with her. She lifts her face. Their lips meet. Beside the roaring waterfall, they stop defending themselves against each other. The kiss cannot erase their pain, but it offers the possibility of no longer carrying it alone.
