Code Geass - Lelouch of the Rebellion
Remember… Zero appearing at Lelouch’s procession in the finale of Code Geass R2? Lelouch sits upon the throne as Emperor of Britannia. His procession moves through the streets while crowds look on with hatred. He has gathered power into his own hands and taken his opponents prisoner. Among them is Nunnally, the sister for whom Lelouch once wanted to create a kinder world. Suddenly, a figure in a black cloak and mask appears ahead of them. Zero has returned. He fights his way past the guards and approaches Lelouch. The crowd watches with hope: someone has come to stop the tyrant. But beneath the mask is Suzaku, Lelouch’s friend. Both know what must happen next. Suzaku draws his sword and strikes Lelouch. The emperor falls from his throne and comes to rest beside Nunnally. When she touches her brother’s hand, she realizes there was a plan behind his actions: Lelouch drew the world’s hatred onto himself so that his death might give people a chance at a new beginning. Nunnally clings to her brother, weeping, while the crowd celebrates Zero’s victory. The plan was called the Zero Requiem. Lelouch gave his life for it, and Suzaku gave up his name. From now on, he must live behind Zero’s mask as the hero who defeated Lelouch.
