Remember… descending the ash-covered steps at the end of Dark Souls and entering the Kiln of the First Flame? Black Knights stand among the ruins. Ash drifts across a landscape that looks like the burned remains of a world. Beyond the fog, Gwyn waits. Once the Lord of Sunlight, victorious against the dragons, he now appears scorched and diminished, carrying a burning sword. He advances immediately. A mournful piano accompanies the fight. Against its quiet notes, his attacks feel almost desperate. He leaps forward, swings relentlessly, and allows little room to recover. His remaining strength survives in those fierce movements. Gwyn sacrificed himself to the First Flame to prolong the Age of Fire. Now you confront what that sacrifice left behind: a ruler consumed by the world he struggled to preserve. Eventually, his sword falls silent. You face the choice he once made—offer yourself to the fire, or turn away.
