Darling in the franxx - Zero Two

Remember in *Darling in the Franxx*, when Zero Two begins to realize that the fear of losing Hiro hurts her more than any battle ever could? For most of her life, she was treated like a monster. Her horns, red eyes, and everything that made her different frightened people. So Zero Two learned to believe that getting close to others was a weakness, and using people was simply a way to survive. But Hiro turned out to be more than just another partner. For the first time, someone looked beyond her appearance. Someone who could see something real beneath the monster everyone else believed her to be—and still chose to stay by her side. Zero Two had spent her entire life wanting to become human, only to slowly discover that perhaps being human had never been about how she looked in the first place. As the truth about their childhood and the feelings connecting them begins to surface, Zero Two realizes that the bond she has spent her life searching for may have existed long before she ever understood it.
