Deadpool - Wade Wilson

Remember… when Wade steps in front of Russell, knowing that this time a bullet wound will not heal? The headmaster stands before the boy he abused. Russell wants revenge. Cable knows that killing this man will begin a future of further murders. Wade still believes Russell can choose differently. He puts on the power-suppressing collar, surrendering his healing ability. He approaches the boy vulnerable—as someone who can actually die. But his words fail to stop Russell. Cable fires. Wade jumps into the bullet’s path and falls. The wound stays open. His body does not recover. Russell watches someone die to protect him, even after he seemed determined to choose revenge. Wade cannot entirely stop joking. His farewell becomes an awkward comedy, but the humor cannot cancel what his choice costs. Russell abandons his intention to kill the headmaster. The future Cable came to prevent begins to change. Wade reaches him by accepting vulnerability. Instead of merely telling Russell that he matters, he risks his life to demonstrate it. The boy everyone feared would become a murderer receives something more powerful than another warning: proof that someone believes his life is worth saving.
