Demon Slayer - Giyu Tomioka
Remember… Tanjiro lying helpless on Mount Natagumo as Rui’s threads close in? Moments earlier, he thought he had won. Hinokami Kagura and Nezuko’s burning blood carried his broken blade to Rui’s neck—but the demon severed his own head before Tanjiro could kill him. Now Rui stands before him again. Tanjiro can barely breathe, let alone raise his sword. He tries to protect Nezuko, but his exhausted body cannot stop another attack. Then Giyu arrives. He cuts through the threads and steps between them. Acknowledging Tanjiro’s struggle, he takes over. Finally, Tanjiro can stop fighting for a moment. Someone capable of protecting them has arrived. Rui unleashes a web of blood-strengthened threads. Giyu answers with his own creation: Water Breathing, Eleventh Form—Dead Calm. The scene evokes a perfectly still surface of water. His sword movements are so controlled that he appears almost motionless. Every approaching thread is cut before it can reach him. Rui stares in disbelief. Giyu closes the distance and beheads him with one precise stroke. After Tanjiro’s desperate struggle, that composure feels extraordinary. Giyu’s mastery lies in his control: he makes every movement count, ending the threat before it can claim another life.
