Demon Slayer - Nezuko Kamado

Remember… when Nezuko begins burning in the sunlight, and Tanjiro shields her with his body, unable to save everyone? Dawn is breaking, but Hantengu is still alive and approaching the wounded swordsmiths. Beside Tanjiro, Nezuko’s skin burns. He tries to cover her. There is no time to find shelter. He freezes between his sister and the people the demon is about to kill. Then Nezuko decides. She kicks him toward Hantengu, leaving herself exposed to the sun. She has no assurance she will survive. Still, she sends her brother to protect the others. Their shared memories rush through Tanjiro’s mind. Crying, he raises his sword, finds Hantengu’s true body, and severs his head. The battle is over. Victory feels meaningless: he believes he has lost the sister this entire journey was meant to save. A swordsmith urges him to turn around. Nezuko stands in the morning light. She is no longer burning. She smiles and awkwardly forms the words: “Good morning.” Tanjiro embraces her, overwhelmed with relief. That simple greeting carries the weight of everything he feared losing. Nezuko has just risked her life for strangers; now her returning voice gives her brother the answer he desperately needed—she is still here.
