Devil May Cry - Dante
Remember… when Dante reaches out to save Vergil, and his brother refuses his hand? Their final battle is over. Vergil has lost, and the passage back to the human world is closing. Dante needs to leave, but he cannot simply abandon his brother. Vergil chooses to remain in the demon world, their father’s former home. As he falls toward the abyss, Dante tries to catch him. Yamato cuts across his outstretched hand. A slash remains in his glove; Vergil disappears below. Dante won the fight. He could not bring his brother home. Outside, Lady waits. Dante still manages a joke, but she notices his tears. He blames the rain. She points out that it has already stopped. Devils never cry,” Dante insists. Lady gently suggests that losing someone they love might make even a devil weep. His quiet acknowledgment leaves the grief exposed. After everything that divided them, Vergil was still his brother. Later, Dante names his business Devil May Cry, carrying that exchange into his future. Lady has seen compassion beneath his demonic blood and swagger. His tears reveal how deeply he loved the person he could not save.
