Elden Ring - Ode to Madness

Remember… entering Midra’s ruined mansion in *Shadow of the Erdtree*, where a withered old man warns you to come no closer? A golden, barbed weapon pierces his body. Every movement hurts, yet he struggles to contain the madness within him. At first, fighting him almost feels cruel. Then his endurance breaks. Asking Nanaya’s forgiveness, Midra tears the weapon free, taking his head with it. Yellow flame ignites above his shoulders, surrounding a hollow black centre. His body straightens. The suffering man becomes the Lord of Frenzied Flame—the transformation echoed by the poster’s burning figure. Melina’s earlier warning suddenly feels painfully clear: “If you intend to claim the frenzied flame, I ask that you cease. It is not to be meddled with. It is chaos, devouring life and thought unending. However ruined this world has become, however mired in torment and despair... Life endures. Births continue. There is beauty in that, is there not?” She speaks those words to you elsewhere, but Midra embodies their warning. His suffering gives way to a flame that threatens everything around him. Facing him makes Melina’s plea tangible: even this broken world still holds lives worth protecting.
