Remember… the 2025 British Grand Prix at Silverstone, where changing weather, tyre strategy and a ten-second penalty decided the 52-lap race? The formation lap began behind the Safety Car on intermediate tyres. Several drivers switched to slicks before the start, but returning rain complicated that gamble. Max Verstappen retained the lead from pole until Oscar Piastri passed him using DRS on the Hangar Straight on Lap 8. As rainfall intensified, the leaders fitted fresh intermediates. McLaren double-stacked its cars, and Norris’s slower stop allowed Verstappen back into second. The Safety Car on Lap 14 erased Piastri’s roughly twelve-second advantage. Before a subsequent restart, Piastri’s abrupt braking earned a ten-second penalty. When racing resumed, Verstappen spun at Stowe and dropped down the order. As the circuit dried, slick-tyre timing became decisive. Early switchers Alonso and Russell initially struggled for grip. Piastri fitted mediums and served his penalty on Lap 44; Norris stopped one lap later for the same compound and emerged ahead. Hulkenberg passed Stroll for third on Lap 35 and retained the position ahead of Hamilton through the final stops. Norris finished 6.812 seconds ahead of Piastri, while Hulkenberg secured his first podium after starting nineteenth.
