Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood

Remember… Edward’s automail arm shattering, leaving him trapped in the rubble as Father approaches? Alphonse asks May to help reverse an old exchange. Edward once sacrificed his right arm to retrieve Al’s soul. Now Al will return that soul to restore his brother’s arm. Edward realizes what he intends and desperately tells him to stop. The armor falls empty. Al’s soul rejoins his body beyond the Gate, and Edward’s arm returns. Al trusts that his brother will come for him. With everyone’s help, Edward defeats Father. But the empty armor remains. Refusing Hohenheim’s offer of his own life, Edward draws a circle and faces Truth again. This time, he offers his personal Gate—permanently surrendering alchemy. Truth questions whether he can accept being an ordinary human. Edward acknowledges that he always was one. Even without alchemy, he has people to rely on. His Gate disappears. Beyond it, Alphonse waits in his frail, living body. Edward reaches for him, and they return together. Edward’s final achievement comes through accepting his limits. He relinquishes the power that defined him because the life he wanted with his brother matters more.
