God of war - Kratos 3D panel
Remember… when Kratos visits the Norns with Freya and Mimir, seeking answers about Atreus? The encounter is unsettling from the start. One Norn describes their movements; another speaks their words before they can finish saying them. Mimir begins a question and hears his own response coming from someone else. Kratos stands rigid, his patience wearing thin. He wants to know where his son is and what threatens him. Instead, the Norns discuss his character as though recounting a familiar story. They explain that there is no predetermined script. People repeat their choices and change so rarely that their next actions become easy to predict. Then they mention Heimdall: he intends to kill Atreus. Kratos immediately fixes on the name. The Norns know how he will respond—by eliminating the threat, just as he has dealt with gods before. They challenge his habit of treating violence as a necessity. These are opponents he cannot silence with a blade. That is what makes the scene uncomfortable: Kratos wants a different future, but achieving it requires different actions. As long as he responds to danger in the same way, his life will follow a familiar path.
