Kaiju no 8 - Kafka Hibino

Remember… Kafka revealing his secret to save his friends at Tachikawa Base? Kaiju attack the base, and Vice-Captain Hoshina struggles to hold off Kaiju No. 10. Mina arrives and helps defeat it with a powerful shot. But the danger isn’t over: an enormous **kaiju bomb** forms in the sky, threatening to destroy the base and everyone inside. Kafka looks at the comrades he has only recently begun fighting alongside. He knows that transforming in front of them could end his dream of serving in the Defense Force beside Mina. But he sees no other way to save them. He transforms into Kaiju No. 8, leaps into the air, and shatters the bomb with a powerful punch. The force of the explosion scatters. Below him, the surviving officers stare in disbelief at the creature they had known as an enemy. Kafka returns to human form, and Mina is forced to take him into custody. His fate now rests with the Defense Force’s leadership. Later, as the restrained Kafka is escorted to a transport vehicle, the Third Division lines up to see him off and salutes him. Reno calls out that he’ll be waiting for Kafka to return. Inside the vehicle, Mina tells Kafka that saving everyone reminded her of the person she has always known—and that no one in the division sees him as an enemy. Kafka has lost his greatest secret, but he discovers that his comrades are still standing beside him.
