Remember… Tenma aiming at Johan inside the burning library, while Johan calmly points to his forehead? At Schuwald’s ceremony in Munich, Tenma arrives intending to kill the person he once saved. Years earlier, Johan was a wounded child on his operating table. Now murders follow in his wake, and Tenma believes stopping him is his responsibility. But he hesitates. Roberto intervenes, and a fire engulfs the library. Smoke fills the hall. Guests scramble for the exits as books and wooden fixtures burn. Amid the chaos, Tenma faces Johan again. His gun is raised. Johan neither hides nor defends himself. He places a finger against his forehead—the place from which Tenma once removed a bullet—as though offering him a target. The rescued child and the lives lost since then converge in Tenma’s mind. He has reached the moment he pursued, but acting means deliberately taking a life. Nina appears and stops him. She then aims at Johan herself, but her shots fail to stop him. He walks away through the smoke. The encounter leaves Tenma confronting a question his gun cannot settle: how can he stop a murderer without abandoning his belief in the value of every life?
