Naruto - Gaara

Remember… Deidara appearing above the Sand Village on a giant clay bird, and Gaara rising to meet him on a platform of sand? Beneath them are homes and crowded streets. Every attack Gaara makes must leave room to protect the people below. Sand pursues Deidara through the sky, finally catching and crushing his arm. But Deidara uses that contact to plant explosive clay inside Gaara’s sand. Then he drops an enormous bomb toward the village. Gaara looks down at the people who once feared him. He spreads a vast canopy of sand over their homes. The explosion strikes overhead, lighting the sky, but the village survives. There is something Gaara does not yet know: the sand that automatically shields his body carries his mother Karura’s love and determination to protect him. He learns that truth much later. Here, the boy she protected is choosing to protect an entire village. Deidara’s hidden explosives detonate inside Gaara’s defense. Wounded, Gaara spends his remaining strength moving the enormous canopy clear of the village so its falling weight cannot crush anyone. Only then does he collapse. Deidara carries him away, leaving behind a village saved by the boy it once rejected.
