Naruto - Itachi
Remember… Itachi walking toward Sasuke as his younger brother retreats until his back meets the wall? By then, both have nearly exhausted themselves. Genjutsu gives way to shuriken and fire, and Amaterasu burns across the battlefield. Sasuke draws lightning from the storm above and unleashes Kirin. The hideout collapses, but Itachi survives behind Susanoo. Sasuke runs out of chakra and can no longer suppress Orochimaru. An enormous eight-headed serpent emerges. Itachi seals Orochimaru with the Totsuka Blade, freeing his brother from the curse mark. Then he approaches. Coughing blood and barely able to see, Itachi raises his hand. Sasuke expects him to take his eyes. Instead, two fingers gently touch his forehead—the familiar gesture from their childhood. “Sorry, Sasuke… there won’t be a next time.” He smiles and collapses. Only later does Sasuke learn that his gravely ill brother had prolonged his life to reach this confrontation, and had never intended to kill him. The tragedy is that revenge cannot promise peace when it rests on a concealed truth. Itachi’s final gesture becomes understandable only after Sasuke has lost him.
