Naruto - Obito's Masks
Remember… Obito hiding his own name deeper beneath each new mask? The first white spiral covers his face as he leaves Madara’s hideout to reach Rin and Kakashi. It is no ordinary mask: Guruguru wraps around his weakened body, helping him move. When Obito witnesses Rin’s death, his old life collapses behind that covering. Next comes the yellow-orange mask with black, flame-like markings. Wearing it, he attacks Konoha, controls Kurama, and fights Minato. His former teacher cannot recognize the lost student standing before him. Later, the orange spiral mask becomes Tobi’s face. Within the Akatsuki, he jokes, complains, and plays the clumsy partner. Behind its single eye opening hides someone secretly directing events. After fighting Konan and implanting the Rinnegan, he adopts a white war mask with two eye openings, concentric rings, and tomoe. During the war, Naruto’s attack shatters it. Kakashi sees a familiar face. Beneath the names Madara and Tobi stands Obito. He wore three main mask designs—four coverings if Guruguru is included. Each concealed his identity, but once the last one broke, he could no longer avoid confronting his past.
