Pain 3D panel

Remember… when Pain pins Naruto to the ground and asks: “Do you hate me? Do you still think people can truly understand one another?” Black rods hold Naruto’s body in place. He cannot rise. Around him, the Hidden Leaf lies in ruins, its homes replaced by rubble and a vast crater. Pain looks down, waiting. His composure sharpens Naruto’s anger: this man destroyed his village and now speaks of understanding. Naruto sees an enemy who has brought suffering to the people he loves. Pain speaks of his own country’s suffering—wars that bring powerful villages victory while leaving smaller nations with bodies and ruins. He wants Naruto to recognise the desire for revenge in them both. What one person calls justice becomes another’s loss. That loss leaves someone else wanting retaliation. Naruto listens, but the wreckage before him weighs more heavily than the words. Pinned to the earth, he keeps his eyes on Pain. He has no answer that could explain this suffering and stop the next act of revenge. The question hangs between them. Pain waits while Naruto struggles with the anger rising in his throat.
