Spider-Man - Miles Morales
Remember… Miles standing on the edge of a skyscraper, with all of New York stretching beneath him? This time, he has made the suit his own. He spray-paints an existing costume black, adds a red spider, and pulls on the mask. It carries his signature, just like the artwork he leaves on walls. But on the rooftop, he still hesitates. The wind catches his clothes. Far below, windows glow and traffic moves. He has his powers, but no guarantee that this will work. That was Peter’s point: certainty will never arrive to tell him he is ready. Eventually, he has to jump. Miles leaps. His fingers cling to the glass so tightly that pieces break away as he pulls free. That tiny detail makes his fear visible: he has chosen to jump, but letting go still takes effort. Then the image turns upside down. Miles is falling toward the city, yet he looks as though he is rising. Buildings stretch around his black-and-red silhouette as “What’s Up Danger” fills the scene. He fires a web and swings between the buildings. His fear has not disappeared. He has simply stopped waiting for it to disappear before acting. For the first time, Miles moves through the city as the Spider-Man of his own story.
