The Usual Suspects 1995 3D panel

Remember… when Verbal leaves the station and Kujan thinks he’s cracked the case? He believes Keaton was the mastermind and Verbal was simply a frightened survivor who finally admitted the truth. Then he looks at the bulletin board. Suddenly, familiar names and places jump out at him—details from Verbal’s account. Fragments of the conversation replay as Kujan realises where those details came from. His coffee mug slips from his hand and shatters. On a broken piece are the words “Kobayashi Porcelain.” The supposedly threatening intermediary’s name came from a mug. Meanwhile, Verbal is walking down the street. At first, he still limps. Then his stride gradually straightens. He uncurls his apparently impaired hand and moves it freely. Within seconds, the helpless witness has disappeared. Back at the station, a fax arrives with a composite sketch of Keyser Söze. It resembles Verbal. Kujan runs outside, but Verbal gets into a car driven by “Kobayashi.” That’s when the deception clicks: Verbal gave Kujan a story that confirmed his suspicions, making himself seem insignificant. The ending reveals his identity while leaving another question open—how much of his account was actually true?
